Overview

SchoolFinder ("we", "us", "our") operates schoolfinder.io, an independent platform that helps parents discover, compare and contact schools. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and your choices.

We do not sell parent or visitor data. School lead information is shared only with the school the parent contacted.

Who this applies to

• Parents and guardians browsing the public directory
• School representatives who claim or manage a school profile
• Administrators and staff using the school portal or admin console

Data we collect

Public browsing: We may collect anonymised usage data (pages viewed, device type, approximate location from IP) through analytics tools. See our cookie policy for details.

Lead forms: When you contact a school through SchoolFinder, we collect the details you submit (such as name, email, phone, child's age or grade, and your message) and pass them to that school. We store lead records so schools can manage enquiries in their portal. Before an enquiry is sent, we run an invisible security check (Cloudflare Turnstile) that may process technical signals such as browser and device characteristics to help prevent spam and abuse.

School accounts: Representatives who claim a school or use the portal provide account details (email, name) and may update school profile information. Authentication is handled by our identity provider.

Analytics for schools: Verified schools receive aggregated, anonymous metrics about profile views and engagement. Individual visitors are not identified to schools.

How we use data

• Operate and improve the directory, search and compare tools
• Deliver lead enquiries to the relevant school
• Authenticate school and admin users
• Provide verified schools with aggregated analytics in the portal
• Prevent abuse, fraud and unauthorised access (including bot protection on enquiry and claim forms)
• Comply with legal obligations

Legal bases

Where applicable under GDPR or similar laws, we rely on legitimate interests to operate the platform, contract performance for school subscriptions and portal access, and consent where you submit a lead form or accept non-essential cookies.

Security verification (Cloudflare Turnstile)

We use Cloudflare Turnstile on school enquiry forms, the staff sign-in and password-reset flows (invisible mode), and the school claim form (managed checkbox) to distinguish legitimate visitors from automated abuse. When you submit an enquiry, sign-in attempt, password-reset request, or claim request, Turnstile may collect and process personal data as described in Cloudflare's documentation.

Use of Turnstile on SchoolFinder is also subject to Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Addendum, which supplements Cloudflare's main privacy policy and explains how Cloudflare processes data in connection with Turnstile and its Challenge Platform.

Sharing

We use trusted processors (hosting, database, email, analytics, payments, and Cloudflare Turnstile for security verification) under appropriate agreements. Lead data is shared only with the school you contact. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

Retention

We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes above, including lead records while a school maintains an active profile, unless a longer period is required by law.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us at hello@schoolfinder.io. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

SchoolFinder is intended for parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. Lead forms should be completed by a parent or guardian.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
